Myanmar Gem Stone Auction Takes $175 million

The recent Myanmar government sale of gemstones fetched about $175 million during a two week auction, which ended on October 16.
Jade, gemstones and pearls were auctioned.
The take was up about 46 percent from the country’s auctions held in June and March, and up 17 percent from fourth-quarter auction in 2007.
More than 2,000 gem merchants attended the auction.
